Ipswich Town's Kundai Benyu Gets Zim Warriors Call-Up

England-born Zimbabwean starlet, Kundai Benyu is set to make his Warriors debut in next month's Africa Cup of nations qualifyer against Liberia at the national sports stadium in Harare.

The 19-year-old Ipswich Town sensational midfielder won the heart of the new Interim Warriors coach Norman Mapeza after his successful loan spell at Aldershot Town in the England National League last season were he played 22 games scoring 5 goals , two assists and scooping three player of the month awards. 

He is currently a wanted man with clubs like, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham and Aston Villa reportedly monitoring the youngster.

Benyu who was born in Camden, will join the Warriors camp next month for the first time - perhaps alongside other called-up foreign-born players like Burnely defender - Tendayi Darikwa and Colchester United forward Macaulay Bonne who previously missed Africa Cup of nations 2017 in Gabon because of irregularities in their documents.

Warriors team manager Wellington Mupandare however confirmed that this time the association will leave no stone unturned to ensure that these players represent their country.

"I have been to every office as we try to secure these players, but what I can say is that there is progress. We are engaging the relevant authorities to help us so that we can have all our best players for these qualifiers," said Mupandare.

Warriors will play Liberia, DR Congo and Congo Brazzaville in their group to qualify for 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
