Three Reasons That Could Have Triggered Supersport United To Sign Young Zimbabwean Star, Prince Dube

South Africa's Absa Premiership side,  Supersport United confirmed - early this week, the signing of young Zimbabwe and Highlanders top striker Prince Dube on a four-year deal.

The 20-year-old former Highlanders academy player has been a target of several clubs in South Africa including Ajax Cape Town and Baroka F.C after his splendid performance in the recently ended Cosafa Castle Cup where Zimbabwe Warriors were crowned champions for the record fifth time.

Eric Tinkler was impressed with the young Zimbabwean forward and did not waste his time to bring him to Matsatsantsa.

Despite having two of the best forwards in the PSL already (in Jeremy Brockie and Bradley Grobler) Supersport United went on quickly to sign the Zimbabwean young forward. A lot of football fans, especially in South Africa might be asking 'Who is Prince Dube?' and wondering why Supersport chose to sign a striker when they are 'covered'  in that area- with Kingston Nkatha also in their books.

There is no doubt Dube is a very talented striker - but the reasons Eric Tinkler signed him are multifaceted. Soca263 takes a closer look at three major factors that may have triggered Supersport United to quickly snatch the young forward.

1- The Player's Goal Scoring Ability - Dube burst onto the scene with Highlanders in 2015, scoring five goals and going on to be named as the Castle Lager Rookie of the Year.

Having made his national team debut in March 2017 in a Warriors' friendly match against Zambia, the talented youngster has already scored twice for Zimbabwe - in the Cosafa Castle Cup 2017 tournment and recently in the Chan2017 competition.

Before coming to join Supersport United, Dube left the country as the current second top goal scorer in Zim Premier League having scored six goals for Bosso this season. This is what Supersport United are looking for in the next season - Goals!

2- They need back Up - With Dube's tactical versatility- he could be played as a direct center striker, meaning he can be a good cover for Jeremy Brockie or Bradley Grobbler in case they are not available and he can fit perfectly well in the current Supersport United style of play.

3- There is good business - at 20 years old, if his growth is managed well, Dube could be a much more valuable asset at Supersport United in the near future. Bursting with energy and ambitious to be on top of his game, Prince Dube has the potential to become a great star.
