Caps United Legend Friday Amayenge Phiri Passed On!

Zimbabwe and Caps United football legend, Friday Phiri died in hospital on Friday morning after battling a short illness. He was 60-years old.

The former Caps United midfielder popularly known as 'Breakdown' in the 80s, is believed to have passed on at Parirenyatwa hospital in Harare where he was admitted for the past six days.

Phiri has not been feeling well since his return from South Africa where he was based and had been in care of his wife and fellow football legends who assisted him in trying to recover his health.

Zimbabwe's Daily News reported yesterday before Phiri's death that a group of legends comprises of  ex-Caps United players such as Charlie Johns, Carlos Max, Charles Sibanda, Joe Mugabe, Frank Nyamukuta and Mpumelelo Dzowa among many had contributed towards his hospital bills.

The cause of his death is still unknown and details and arrangements of his burial would be announced. May his soul rest in eternal peace!
