How Would Marvelous Nakamba Fit In At Liverpool?

Marvelous Nakamba has been in the news lately with English top side, Liverpool F.C reportedly looking forward to bring the Zimbabwean midfield maestro to Anifield in the January transfer window.

There are some transfer rumours that have a sense of inevitability to them - 'Nakamba to Liverpool' may not give you that certainty but if the Zimbabwean rising star continue with the form he is currently in at Club Brugge, it will be a matter of time before the former Vitesse Arnhem star realise his dream.

Nakamba who recently revealed his passion of playing for English Premier League side - Liverpool FC, is reportedly earmarked to replace wantaway midfielder Emre Can at Anifield and soca263.com takes a look at how the Zimbabwean defensive midfield star would fit in Jurgen Klopp's set up.

At Liverpool, Nakamba would have to battle for position with the likes of skipper - Jordan Henderson, Marko Grujic, Gini Wijnaldum and Emre Can - that is if the latter decides to stay at Anifield.

But if we look at the performance data this season, Nakamba appears to be stucking up very well against the current crop of central midfielders at Liverpool and would provide the much needed depthness in defensive areas where they seem to be volatile, conceding 16 goals in 9 matches so far this season and dropping to 9th position on the premier league log table with 13 points.

A role in front of the back four would be a perfect fit for Nakamba in Jurgen Klopp's favorite standard 4-3-3 formation, where he would shield the defense - a lot more acting as the deep-lying midfielder - providing an extra dimension and edge to attack while occasionally carrying out the dirty work in defense.

In the case of Klopp opting for a dynamic 4-2-3-1 formation, Nakamba would partner Henderson in marshalling areas in front of the defense - thereby freeing up duties of Lallana or Wijnaldum .

Having an average rate of 86% duels won, 88% pass accuracy rate, created 12 chances and a defensive action of 6/10 in 11 premier league appearances at Club Brugge this season, Nakamba would be a perfect replacement for wantaway Germany international - Emre Can who currently have an average 46% duels won, 86% pass accuracy rate, a total of 7 chances created with a defensive action of 4/10 in his 7 premier league appearances for Liverpool so far this season.

Although Henderson is also good as a central defensive midfieder, but with an average rate of 49% duels won, 79% pass accuracy, 12 chances created and a defensive action of 4/10 in 8 appearances this season, Nakamba still have the statistical upper hand to fill up the holding midfielder position that could make him a star at Liverpool.
