Big Blow For Deco!

Injured Zimbabwe-Warriors and Golden Arrows defensive midfielder, Danny 'Deco' Phiri could miss out on Warriors' Afcon Group G qualifier against Congo Brazzaville rescheduled to September 2018, as he battles to recover.

The 28-year-old former Chicken Inn midfielder, who made 24 premier league appearances for Golden Arrows in the 2016/17 season, suffered an Achilles tendon injury in August during training and has been sidelined ever since.

Phiri is disappointed with the prospects of missing on Warriors' next Group G qualifier against Congo in September as he feels he might not be ready to compete for his Warriors position.

“It (the injury) has been a major setback for me and to think that the Warriors will be playing in the Afcon qualifiers against Congo and I may not be part of the team disappoints me," said Phiri speaking to Zimbabwe's Newsday.

"I have been training on the sidelines and doing physiotherapy. Doctors have said I should be patient. They have said maybe I might start playing in March. I am hoping that I will get well sooner,” Phiri said.

Phiri was part of the Warriors squad that beat Liberia 3-0 in their first Afcon Group G qualifier and would be a big boost if he recoveres quick from the injury.
