Kaitano Tembo Took Supersport United Through To The Next Round Of CAF Confederations Cup!

Former Zimbabwe-Warriors defender Kaitano Tembo enjoyed his first win in charge of Supersport United after Tinkler's resignation as he eased to a 2-1 victory over Angola top side, Atletico Petro De Luanda to reach the next round of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Tembo (47), who was enthrusted with the coaching job at Matsatsantsa after Eric Tinkler's resignation last month, recorded his first win in his third match in charge as Supersport United caretaker coach,  beating A.P Luanda 2-1 at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Friday night courtesy of a brace from Thabo Mnyamane in the 77th and 82nd minutes respectively.

Supersport United have drawn twice since Tembo took over -  a league match and a CAF Confederations Cup first leg match against A.P Luanda in Angola last week.

It is not the first time that the Zimbabwean mentor has helped Matsatsantsa in crucial moments, in July 2017, Tembo took charge of the club in three crucial CAF Confederations Cup group stages matches when former United coach Stuart Baxter was negotiating for his move to Bafana Bafana.

He pulled off five points from a possible nine with a hard fought 2-2 draw against Mazembe in Lubumbashi‚ a goalless draw with Horoya AC in Guinea and an impressive 5-3 win over FC Mounana in Gabon.

However, Tembo, who is among the favourites to land Supersport United permanent top job next season, has a huge assignment ahead of him as he has to pull the Tshwane based outfit out of the relegation zone they are currently in.
