Warriors Team Manager, Wellington Mpandare Explains Why Gerald Takwara Was Left Out Of Final Squad To Zambia!

Zimbabwe-Warriors team manager, Wellington Mpandare has revealed the reason Gerald Takwara was left out of the final 20-man squad to compete in Zambia's Four Nations tournament to be held from 21-25 March.

There was no mention of Gerald Takwara's absence after coach Sunday Chidzambwa announced his 20-man squad on Tuesday omitting the 23-year-old Ajax Cape Town midfielder who initially had been included in the squad.

Takwara, who is tipped to become the next Tinashe Nengomasha was expected to make the final 20-man squad to travel to Zambia for the tournament after he was called up, but the final team sheet did not carry his name as the Warriors technical team decided to assess new players.

"Initially we were given a maximum of 29 players to make up our squad for the tournament, but that figure has since dropped to only 20 and we thought of giving new guys a chance for assessment," said Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare speaking to soca263.

"Gerald is already part of the team. The coach knows how he plays, but we have exciting new midfieders like Amazulu's Ncube, Orlando Pirates' Munetsi and Cefn Druids' Mudimu who deserve to be looked at and this is the opportunity," said Mpandare

Takwara was a very crucial player during Zimbabwe-Warriors' recent success in the COSAFA Castle Cup 2017 tournament where they were crowned record fifth Champions.

Zimbabwe-Warriors are expected in camp starting from Monday 19 March before they depart for Zambia.
