Alec Mudimu Was Left Dumbfounded After His 'Surprise' Zimbabwe Warriors Call-Up!

Welsh-based Zimbabwe-Warriors young centre-back, Alec Mudimu admitted he was left overwhelmed by his first Zimbabwe-Warriors call-up in the squad that participated in the recently ended Four Nations Tournament in Zambia.

The 22-year-old Cefn Druids midfielder, Mudimu was among three new British-born youngsters included by coach Sunday Chidzambwa in the Warriors squad that took part in the inaugural four nations tournament last month.

The talented youngster who is currently enjoying an incredible rise in his football career in the Welsh premier league under the tutelage of Cefn Druids manager Huw Griffiths, recently reflected on his international bow in a special interview with WPL.Cymru,  admitting that he was surprised and left dumbfounded by his Warriors call-up.

"When we played TNS at home and I scored, I was told just before the game that I might be getting an international call-up, and when you get told stuff like that ... I just thought people were having me on, so I just said 'aw ok', and shoved it aside, really, because I just didn’t believe it," said Mudimu.

"As the weeks were getting closer though, I was told again that there was a real chance I might be going and I mean, I just can’t explain it, I’m still numb to the feeling to be honest with you, playing football in front of 60,000 people in a packed out stadium, where I couldn’t even hear myself shouting, it was absolutely crazy."

I really hope there are many more experiences like that. I loved every minute of it and I hope there are many more to come, because it is moments like that in football that you live for, to represent your country, and I can’t explain the feeling because it was that incredible," he said.

With the Europa League playoffs slowly approaching in the Welsh Premier League, Alec Mudimu who is being moulded into a 'ball-playing' centre-back at international level, will be aiming to make another huge stride in his football career by playing top European football.
