Huge Blow For Mighty Warriors As Rutendo Makore Ruled Out Of Namibia Tie

Mighty-Warriors have been delt a huge blow after star forward Rutendo Makore was ruled out of Mighty Warriors' AWCON qualifier tie against Namibia on Thursday 5th & 8th of April respectively

The 25-year-old Spanish-based star, failed a late fitness test to join an 18-member squad to travel to Namibia for the important Africa Women's Cup of Nations qualifier after sustaining an ankle injury in Sporting De Huelva's 2-1 loss to Zaragoza on the 25th of March 2018.

But, Mighty Warriors coach Sithethelelwe Sibanda is no woman to cry over spilt milk as she remained confident of the quality of players she has on her disposal.

“Rutendo is a vital member of the suqad, but if she cannot be part of the team, I am confident other players are equally capable of doing the job,” Sibanda said

Since most of the players were inaction for a long period of time due to league suspension in Zimbabwe, Sibanda will rely on the experience of her squad which has been intact for a long time.

“We will largely rely on the wealth of experience that we have in the team to take us to the next stage ,” said Sibanda on Zifa website.

The returning trio of Emmaculate Msipa, Mavis Chirandu and Felistas Muzongondi who have missed the previous major tournament due to work commitments, will certainly boost Sibanda's charges.

The return leg will be played at Rufaro Stadium on the 8th of April 2018.
The winner of the two-legged qualifier will meet either Zambia or Tanzania in the second and final round of qualifiers for the final tournament to be played in Ghana in 2018.
