Zimbabwe Teenage Star Captained Bury FC To English County Cup Glory!

Another England-based Zimbabwe rising star, Douglas Nyaupembe was at center stage in the English County Cup final as he captained a youthful English third tier side, Bury FC to lift the Lancashire Senior Cup after a convincing 4-2 win over Fleetwood Town in the finals on Wednesday night.

The 18-year-old right-back who was raised in Manchester, England to Zimbabwean parents, was the winning captain as a youthful Bury FC side wins the Lancashire FA Senior Championship for a record eleventh time after a 4-2 victory over last year finalists, Fleetwood FC.

The Lancashire FA Senior Cup is the longest running county cup competition competed by teams playing professional football from the National League upwards across Lancashire.

Teams that participated in this season's competition include, all time winners Blackburn Rovers, Blackpool, Bolton Wanderers, Kundai Benyu's Oldham Athletic, Burnley, Preston North End, Wigan Athletic, Barrow AFC, Accrington Stanley, AFC Fylde, Rochdale, Morecambe and Fleetwood Town.

Nyaupembe is a highly-rated right full back currently playing in Bury's youth department having joined at the age of 14. But could break into the struggling senior side anytime soon after impressing in the under-18 side were he won the Paul Earnshaw Clubman of the year award in May 2017.

Bury FC senior side are currently seating at the bottom of the English League One log table with 30 points from 41 games and are heading for relegation, but Lancashire FA Senior Championship will certainly bring a little comfort to their disgruntled fans.
