Khama Billiat, Marvelous Nakamba Included In The List Of Players To Feature At COSAFA Cup As Warriors Plans To Send A Full Strength Squad!

Zimbabwe Warriors technical team has included Belgian based midfied maestro, Marvelous Nakamba and Mamelodi Sundowns star Khama Billiat in the long list of players expected to be called up for this year's Cosafa Cup tournament to be hosted in South Africa from 27 May to June 9.

Coach Sunday Chidzambwa has already shortlisted 40 players including Warriors top brass duo of Khama Billiat and Marvelous Nakamba who are currently in top form at their respective clubs to join skipper Knowledge Musona who was initialy included in the squad.

“The coach wants to give many players an opportunity. For instance, last time we had a team of locals against Botswana and before that we had mostly foreign-based players at the four-team tournament in Zambia," said Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare speaking to The Herald.

“We expect to have a number of players who are new to each other and for that matter a week in camp will do. The good thing is we have been constantly in touch with the players.

“We expect our captain Knowledge to be in by the time we start camp, probably May 24, or thereabout. Nakamba’s team should be playing play-offs just around the same time and afterwards he should be coming back home.

“But Kuda Mahachi has not recovered from injury and might not be part of the team, the same with Teenage Hadebe, who picked a knock,” said Mpandare.

Other key players shortlisted in Warriors squad for Cosafa include, Leyton Orient marksman Macauley Bonne, Nottingham Forest defender Tendayi Darikwa, Celtic and Oldham youngster Kundai Benyu and Bradford City left-back Adam Chicksen, to name a few.

The Warriors technical team are in the process to regularise some of the players' documents with the Zimbabwe Register General before they officially announce the squad.

COSAFA have set May 20 as the cut-off date for all the participating nations to submit their squads.
