Zimbabwe's Foreign Legion Set To Headline Warriors Squad At COSAFA Cup!

Zimbabwe's foreign based players, including the whole batch of 'British Brigade'  are all set to grace the Warriors squad at this year's COSAFA Cup tournament to be played in Limpopo province starting from May 27 to June 9.

Warriors Substantive coach, Sunday Chidzambwa is looking to win the cup for the record sixth time and at the same time having chance to assess and build a strong team for Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers scheduled for September.

Zimbabwe team manager Wellington Mpandare told soca263.com that a huge number of foreign based players including the 'British Brigades' are expected to take part in this year's tournament.

"The bulk of the squad will be made up of foreign based players. We are looking at using COSAFA Cup as an opportunity for our team to gel into the unit that we want it to be by the time we resume our Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in September," said Mpandare.

"We are having a technical meeting on Tuesday at ten in the morning to discuss the squad call up and when we can go into camp, but all those that we have called before (including Leicester City's Admiral Muskwe, Oldham Athletics' Kundai Benyu and Leyton Orient star, Macauley Bonne) are expected to be part of the team."

Other players expected for Cosafa Cup 2018 tournament, include Warriors captain and Kv Oostende's Knowledge Musona who recently recovered from injury, Germany born attacking midfielder, Kelvin Lunga (23) son of Warriors legend Max Makanza Lunga who plays for Röndinghausen in Germany's fourth tier and midfielder English-born Andy Rinemhota (21) who is with Reading in the English League One.

Australian-born goalkeeper Thando Velaphi (30) who is born to a Zimbabwean father and an Australian mother plays for Wellington Phoenix, is also expected to earn his first Zimbabwe Warriors cap at this year's COSAFA tournament.
