Team Zim UK Shines At Inner City World Cup In London!

Zimbabwe Diaspora National Team development squad made history by reaching their first ever cup final at the UK Inner City World Cup 2018 which took place in London last weekend.

The tournament, which is organised by LoveFootball is a repica World Cup with 32 teams made up from multicultural inner-city communities representing their countries of origin in the full national colours.

Team Zimbabwe UK, which is comprised of a youthful side average 20-years, was drawn in Group C, dubbed the group of death with two former champions, Poland, Ecuador and China. To the surprise of many the Warriors topped their group with three wins in 3 games.

The Warriors went on to thrash Mauritius 3-0 to book a quarter final spot against Seirra Leone and won 2-1 before battling it out with Bulgaria which boosted of six former internationals in a 1-all semifinal encounter.

Zimbabwe reached the finals for the first time beating Bulgaria on penalties after excellent goalkeeping by Nab Moyo who saved two penalties to face Colombia in the finals.

Colombia were no easy hurdle neither as the Warriors played to a 0-0 draw in the regulated time before losing 4-2 on penalties to the giants South Americans with veteran goalkeeper Obey Murefu in goals for the Warriors after losing Moyo through injury.

Team Zimbabwe UK is directed by Marshall Gore who is the ZIFA representative in UK/EU talent search towards the development of Zimbabwe national soccer team- the Warriors.
