Mid-Week Wrap: Evans Rusike, Khama Billiat On Song As Matthew Rusike Scores His First Goal For The Season!


There was some exciting football action during the mid-week in South African premiership, England and Wales with few of our boys stealing the lime-light as they featured for their respective clubs. Below is a comprehensive detail of how each player performed for the past two days.

- Matthew Rusike opened his goal scoring account for the season at Cape Town City against Free State stars on Wednesday night as he opened the scoring in their 2-2 draw away in the Absa premiership mid-week encounter.

 The 28-year-old forward gets off the mark after pouncing on a loose ball from Patosi's delivery in the first 4'minutes of the game to put Cape Town City ahead. Bangali Keita was able to level the scores in the 58th minutes for Stars. Goodman Dlamini restored the lead for City in the 64th minutes, but Free State Stars were able to come back from behind again in the 90+3 minutes to force a draw and share of the spoils.

It is Rusike's first goal of the season for Cape Town City and his second ever since he joined Cape Town City last season where he featured only thrice due to injury.

- Evans Rusike continued with his fine goal scoring form for the season at Supersport United, scoring his 3rd goal in his fourth premier league match as his team beat Chippa United 2-1 at home in the Absa premiership match played on Wednesday night.

The 27-year-old red-hot forward scored Supersport United's winning goal in the 41st minutes to give his team a lead before he was substituted in the 68th minutes for Phumlani Ntshangase.

Khama Billiat is playing his best game at Kaizer Chiefs at the moment despite his team struggling. The 28-year-old talented star was in handy again for Chiefs scoring the opening goal in their 2-2 draw at home to Bloemfontein Celtic.

It is Billiat's first league goal for the season at Chiefs and his 3rd in all competition.

Ronald Pfumbidzai was an unused sustitute for Bloemfontein Celtic.

On Tuesday, Nyasha Munetsi played full game & Kudakwashe Mahachi Unused substitute for Orlando Pirates as the Buccaneers registered a 1-2 win away to Black Leopards.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has now started in two out of five league matches that Orlando Pirates have played so far in the season.

Alec Mudimu was in action for Cefn Druids playing full game as they lost 3-4 after extra-time against Airbus in the Nathaniel MG Cup on Tuesday.

Talent Chawapiwa started for Baroka FC against Highlands Park, but was substituted in the 58th minutes as they drew 1-1 at home to Highlands Park. Newly signed goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze featured in his first match for Baroka playing full game against Baroka.

Tapuwa Kapini was also in goals for Highlands Park as he featured in his fourth match of the season for the team.

Danny Phiri came in the 46th minutes for Golden Arrows same time as Walter Musona was introduced for Polokwane City as they drew 1-1 in the Absa premiership played on Wednesday. Divine Lunga played full game for Arrows.

Terrence Dzvukamanja was an unused substitute as Bidvest Wits win 3-0 at home to Butholezwe Ncube's Amazulu.

Tendayi Darikwa was introduced for the injured Sam Byram in the 39th minutes as they won 3-1 at home to Newcastle United in the EFL Cup.
