Willard Katsande Could Return To The Squad In Place Of Injured Nakamba!

Willard Katsande Set for a return to warriors Squad.
Former Warriors skipper and Kaizer Chiefs midfield strong-hold, Willard Katsande could be a last minute addition to the Warriors squad replacing Club Brugge midfield maestro Marvelous Nakamba who is still nursing an injury in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next month.

Warriors coach, Sunday Chidzambwa was left with limited options in the midfield department after the experienced duo of Marvelous Nakamba and Ovidy Karuru were ruled out of the match against Congo Brazzaville next month through to injuries.

Ovidy Karuru suffered an ankle injury in June 2018 during Zimbabwe's COSAFA Cup match against Botswana and Nakamba who had been out for more than two months now started training recently at Club Brugge, but he is still to regain full fitness.

Chidzambwa yesterday called in Ngezi Platinum midfielder, Liberty Chakoroma into the Squad, but the coach is still not satisfied as he only have Nyasha Munetsi, Richard Hachiro and Leeroy Mavunga for the defensive midfield role.

After Zifa's sudden U-turn decision to return Nyasha Mushekwi to the squad, Katsande could bounce back to add experience in Warriors midfield with Chidzambwa set to make additions to the team.

"We selected players with a provision to cover for injured players, the squad will actually be trimmed but, maybe, we will add one or two players to the squad," Chidzambwa said.

"The issue who will come, will have to discuss that with other coaches. As for Katsande I cannot say yes or no, in fact i can not comment about that.

"There is an issue where it is said he retired so i do not want to say anything about that because i do not know the circumstances surrounding his retirement.

Katsande recently told that he won't mind coming back to the squad if called, but it is the coaches' decision.

"Helping my country is always good to me, but i don't need to put the technical stuff in a corner of calling me," Katsande recently told

With the association seemingly making a change of heart towards the banned quartet, Katsande could be a formidable replacement for the injured Nakamba.
