Warriors Manager To Engage Young Warriors Coaches Over Intergration Of Foreign Based Youngsters In Junior Squads!

Warriors manager Mr. Wellington Mpandare planning to engage Young Warriors Coaches in aim of integrating foreign based youngsters into juniors squads.

A lot of talented Zimbabwe foreign based youngsters were left disappointed after the announcement of Zimbabwe Warriors Under-20 squad to take part in the upcoming 2018 MOPANI Copper Mines COSAFA Under-20 Championships, was made at the beginning of the week.

Young Warriors coach, Bekithemba Ndlovu announced a 32-member squad with only two foreign based players leaving out youngsters like, Tinashe Chakwana, Admiral Muskwe and many more who have been identified by the Warriors technical team and are in line for the senior level.

Warriors manager, Mr. Wellington Mpandare who is championing the move to convince talented foreign born youngsters to choose Zimbabwe Warriors over their host countries at international level, had hoped to see some of his identified young talent being integrated in the junior teams in preparation for senior level, but was left surprised after the announcement of the Under-20 squad due to take part in the  2018 MOPANI Copper Mines COSAFA Under-20 Championships to be staged in Kitwe, Zambia from December 2-14, with only United States based Marvin Sibanda and Munashe Garananga based in South Africa as the only foreign based players in the team.

"Junior coaches are aware (of the list of foreign based youngsters identified for national team) but people have fear of the unknown which surprises me a lot because if we can call players at senior national level, what can stop them experimenting even more of them," said Mr. Mpanadare

The technical team has identified more than 40 talented youngsters dotted around the world with Zimbabwean roots to help boost the technical and tactical aspect of national team football and introducing them at junior levels would be a smarter way to integrate these youngsters into national team set up.

The Zimbabwe football body re-iterated that the selection of national team players is solely left in the hands of coaches and that the organization is ready to assist in its duties.

"Coaches have their own discretion. We don't interfere with their operations. In brief we don't tell them whom to select or not. We take pride in their independence, said Zifa Communications officer, Mr. Xolisani Gwasela.

"As Zifa we are fully aware of our responsibilities and fully conscious of our obligations," he said.

However, Warriors manager, Mr. Mpandare who is passionate and determined about developing a strong national team around foreign based talent, promised to engage Young Warriors coaches in trying to find a way to accommodate these players in junior teams.

"We will engage and get to the bottom of it to find out where the problem is," adds Mr. Mpandare.

Besides the under-20 squad which is due to take part in Cosafa tournament, the national under-23 side will also be in action next year where they are scheduled to play Mozambique in the second round of the Total Under-23 2019 Africa Cup of nations qualifiers 18-26 March 2019.
