Weekend Action Wrap: Check Out How Your Foreign Based Stars Perfomed Over The Weekend

From left to right- Tanzania based Azam midfielder Tafadzwa Kutinyu (23), Leyton Orient forward Macauley Bonne(23) and Orlando Pirates midfielder Nyasha Munetsi (22).
A lot of our foreign based stars returned to club football over the weekend after a disappointing international break where things did not go as planned as Zimbabwe Warriors missed a good opportunity of a historical early Afcon qualification where they would have- for the first time ever- booked their qualification spot with a game to spare. But a win at home to Congo Brazzaville will see Zimbabwe making their Fourth Africa Cup of Nations appearances.

Just before the weekend, Thursday 22 November, Tafadzwa Kutinyu was on fire for Azam FC as he scored the winning goal plus a goal assist in the team's 2-1 win at home to Ruvu Shooting Stars.

On Saturday it was a big day of football in South Africa as the two Soweto giant teams clashed in another exciting derby as the battle to decide who goes into the Telkom Knock Out 2018 final. Kaizer Chiefs boosted of Willard Katsande and Khama Billiat who both played full game in their team's 1-2 loss to Orlando Pirates with the later providing a goal assist to Leornado Castro's 19th minutes goal.

Nyasha Munetsi, who is growing by each game and flourishing as a centre back, cementing a starting berth in a talented and very competitive Pirates side, played full game partnering his captain Happy Jele to marshal the defence neutralising Kaizer Chiefs play-maker and fellow countrymen Khama Billiat's threats to claim bragging rights in yet another win over rivals Amakhosi.

In England Tendayi Darikwa was in action for Nottingham Forest playing full game in their 0-2 win away to Hull City in the Championship league on Saturday, Forest are 7th on the log table with 30 points from 18 matches.

Zimbabwe young midfielder, Andy Rinomhota is gradually familiarizing himself in the first team as he played full game in Reading's nil all draw away to Wigan Athletic in the Championship league on Saturday. The 21-year-old English bred Zimbabwean has played a total of 5 league matches and started in three games so far this season at Reading.

Another English born Zimbabwean, defender Adam Chicksen was in action at Bradford City playing full game as they register a 2-0 win at home to Oxford United in League One encounter on Saturday.
It is Chicksen's 8th start for Bradford this season after hampered by an injury at the beginning of the season.

Macauley Bonne is proving everyday to be the next Jamie Vardy, whom after bagging 34 goals in 42 games for  non-league Fleetwood FC, went on to become one of English premier league's top scorers with Leicester City. Bonne is now the current English National League top goal scorer with 16 goals from 21 games, having scored on Saturday in Orient's 0-2 win away to Wrexham.

On Sunday Tanzanian based Thabani Kamusoko's Young Africans won 1-2 away to Kagera Sugar to edge a point closer to log leaders Azam FC who are on 33 points with a game ahead of Young Africans who have a game in hand.

In South Africa Talent Chawapiwa played 82 minutes, Elvis Chipezeze in goals for Baroka FC as they proceed to Telkom Knock Out finals on a 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits. Baroka will meet Orlando Pirates in the Telkom 2018 finals.

Terrence Dzvukamanja played full game for Bidvest Wits, but their efforts were in vain as Baroka proved a better side with a goal to win and proceed to the finals.
