Zimbabwe Warriors Left For Liberia In Dribs And Drabs!

The shortage of foreign currency in the country has thrown Zimbabwe Warriors' traveling plans to Monrovia, Liberia for their crucial Africa Cup of nations qualifier group G penultimate match against the Lone Star on the 18th of November into dissaray as the squad was forced to travel separately to the West African nation.

According to ZIFA Vice-President Omega Sibanda, the Zimbabwe Warriors couldn't raise the required $150 000 to charter a plane to Liberia and had to use alternative means with most of foreign based players forced to fly direct to Monrovia from their different bases in Europe.

Belgian based duo of Marvelous Nakamba and Knowledge Musona together with Welsh based Alec Mudimu and Tanzania based Tafadzwa Kutinyu are scheduled to fly direct from their bases and meet up with the rest of the team in Liberia on Thursday.

Coach Sunday Chidzambwa has already trimmed his squad to the required 18-players dropping Dynamos goalkeeper Simba Chinani, Bidvest Wits forward Terrence Dzvukamanja and Byron Madzokere from the squad that is scheduled to depart from Harare this evening.

The Warriors technical team together with French-based Tinotenda Kadewere who flew to Harare earlier this week, local based Rodwell Chinyengetere and Kevin Moyo will team up with the South African based contigent in Johannesburg before they embark on their hectic journey to Liberia.

Zimbabwe Warriors are on top of Group G with a three-point lead gap after an unbeaten run of four games in the group, and now just need at least a point to seal their qualification to Cameroon 2019 finals with a game to spare.
