Elvis Chipezeze Guards Baroka To First Domestic Silverware!

Barely five months after joining the Limpopo based side from Zimbabwe's Chicken Inn, Elvis Chipezeze is already a household name at Baroka FC after a series of good performances. His latest performance in the Telkom Knock Out final as Baroka beat Orlando Pirates 3-2 on penalties  after a 2-2 draw in the extra time to lift the domestic knock out trophy, could be one of his best in his career so far.

The 28-year-old former Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League Goalkeeper of the Year 2017, was outstanding in goals for Baroka, denying Orlando Pirates several opportunities that could have changed the course of the game.

In the first half of the game Chipezeze made several crucial saves including Lorch's 1v1 after getting to the end of a loose ball only to be denied by the former Chicken Inn goalkeeper and went to half time leading by a goal to nil.

Chipezeze continued with good saves in the second half, but Musa Nyatama pulled one back for Pirates to force extra-time and eventually penalty shootout where the talented goalie guarded the team to a 3-2 win.

The Zimbabwean has been inspirational in the Telkom Knock Competition for Baroka keeping two clean sheets against Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits in his four appearances in the competition.

It is Elvis Chipezeze and Talent Chawapiwa's first silverware in the South African domestic league and also the team's first ever trophy ever since promoted to the premiership football a couple of seasons ago.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates' Nyasha Munetsi was red carded in the 40th minutes after an illegal change on Baroka player.
